Since leaving school, and realising that everyone wanted to be a DJ, Ben spent the following years desperately trying to avoid getting a job. He made it his business to exhaust just about every music related course that City of Westminster University had to offer.

In his fifth year, having finally had his college ID card prized out of his hand by then lecturer (and all round recording industry guru) Steve Culnane, Ben landed a work experience position as a Tape op at the historic Wessex studios in Highbury.  There he was trained in all the really important studio responsibilities

such as tea making, toilet cleaning and occasionally (when the remote packed up), pressing play on the tape machine. Unfortunately Wessex was in it's final days though so his stint there was fairly short lived.  In the brief hiatus that followed, tape machines were being binned by the skip load and whilst squeezing in half a degree at Staffs Uni, Ben joined the ever-expanding gang of bedroom producer / CV writers.  Luckily it wasn't long before fellow Wessex engineer Andy Parker offered him another opportunity in a much smaller outfit in Notting Hill. This time however, having really nailed his tea making art (and being paid for it) he was working alongside the likes of breakbeat band "The Freestylers", engineer Hugo Nicolson (of Screamadelica & David Holmes fame) & pioneering Hip-Hop / Soul producer Mark Rae.  Between 2002 & 2012 too many bands to fit in this tiny box were assisted or engineered by Ben & he was on quite a tour of London studios including Olympic, The Aquarium & Livingston.  His freelance client list was growing and not least included were the now "Better call Saul" soundtracker's "Little Barrie" and perhaps more importantly to him,  double sibling harmony group "The Magic Numbers" who, in there own way set Ben's career Balls rolling. (Or wrecking as their private studio became named after completing their second album together).  Ben has credits on all 4 albums and still works closely alongside band leader Romeo to this day, having handed the reigns over to producer Dave Lynch to finish album 5 due to an every increasing workload.  The two have been described as great friends with a nack for reading each other's minds in the studio which has made way for a lot of fun sessions.

Before joining Runway in 2015, where his input was pivotal in the refurbishment, Ben's desire to work as a freelance engineer had slowed down, keeping only a few key clients along the way. Alongside co-running the studio, his focus has centred on writing,  production, and performance. Earlier this year he signed a 3 album contract and publishing deal with Delete Records & Major Music (respectively) for a project with writing partner "Correigh".  The pair have toured Ibiza this summer and are currently in rehearsals to go fully live with a band next year.
